Just some of the places and events attended in the last week.  

Thursday, May 6th   Ottawa City Hall     Zonta Club of Ottawa Fashion Show to raise funds to fight violence against women.   MANUP, of Longfields Dvidson High School awarded a thousand dollars for their work to educate young men on violence issues.  

The Manotick Musicale, Bye Bye Birdie,  in support of ROSS, Rural Ottawa Seniors Support.  Saturday, May 7th, Manotick United Church.  

Featuring The Village Singers, Manotick Brass and the Canterbury Trio.

April 28th, 2016  

St. Andrew's  Catholic School in Barrhaven.   Education Week.

 I was asked to talk to Grade 5 and 6 students about how to handle adversity.  

April 23, 2016  Ukrainian Hall, Ottawa.    

Acceso International 20th Anniversary Dinner.   The organization started by Dr. Christine Gervais helps young people in 6 Latin American Countries go to school and then on to Post Secondary Education.   It celebrates 20 years of work.  

April 19, 2016   Hellenic Community Centre

Catholic Education Foundation Fundraising Gala.   This annual event raises money that enables the School Board and Schools to help students and families facing financial emergencies.

Wednesday, April 6.    The Debra Dynes Family House celebrated 20 years of serving their neighbourhood.  Sophie Gregoire Trudeau was guest speaker.  She spoke of the need for authentic personal connections in order to be happy.  Several former residents of Debra Dynes told the audience how the family house provided love and stability and credit it with their success today.

Monday, April 4th.  The Last Hurrah.   Ladies Who Lunch Ottawa gathered at the NAC for the final time before massive renovations begin.  This was a landmark meeting, the culmination of weeks of work undertaken by women across the city to try and make a difference in the lives of aboriginal youth at Cross Lake Manitoba, where   suicide epidemic is getting national headlines.     #motherlove started her in Ottawa, by Ladies Who Lunch founder Catherine Landry.   The kids in Cross Lake will soon receive donated sports equipment and musical instruments and crafts, which they requested to help keep them busy.   Tippet Richardson is shipping all the donated items for free!     #motherlove will now become a national movement to provide grassroots help to teens and youth on reserves across the country.
