CHIC TYME IN THE TICK

IF THERE IS ONE THING I HAVE LEARNED LIVING IN OTTAWA ALL THESE YEARS IS THAT WOMEN ARE A POWERFUL FORCE.  FIND A GREAT CAUSE, AND A FEMALE ARMY WILL DESCEND TO TAKE IT ON.

A GREAT EXAMPLE OF THAT WAS THE RECENT CHIC TYME IN THE TICK EVENT, FRIDAY, APRIL 29TH AT THE MANOTICK CURLING CLUB.  MORE THAN 300 WOMEN GATHERED TO HAVE FUN, AND RAISE FUNDS TO HELP PAY FOR THE MAHOGANY HARBOUR DOCK THAT WILL BE BUILT THIS SUMMER ON THE WEST SIDE OF THE RIDEAU RIVER, JUST SOUTH OF MANOTICK'S MAIN HUB.

IT'S BEEN A LONG TIME DREAM, WITH A SERIES OF HURDLES TO OVERCOME.   THE MANOTICK CULTURE, PARKS AND RECREATION CENTRE AND THE BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT ASSOCIATION ARE WORKING TOGETHER WITH SEVERAL LEVELS OF GOVERNMENT TO MAKE IT HAPPEN.  THERE IS THE FIRM BELIEF THE DOCK WILL PROVIDE A WELCOME PLACE FOR BOATERS TO STOP ( THERE IS NO DOCK ON THE RIDEAU RIVER BETWEEN DOWNTOWN OTTAWA AND MERRICKVILLE)  AND WILL BE A SHOT IN THE ARM TO MANOTICK BUSINESSES.

TICKETS FOR THE APRIL FUNDRAISING DINNER WERE SOLD OUT BEFORE CHRISTMAS!
