Ottawa boasts many treasures.  Such as the Central Experimental Farm.  Nestled in the middle of our bustling city it offers respite from the present day chaos just beyond its fences.    It's the only working farm in any world capital.  And it's ours. We are welcome just about any time. However, unless you have little children you probably don't visit often.

The farm is out to change its image.   The push is on to have Ottawans appreciate the site as a perfect venue for all kinds of events.   So on Thursday night, July 21st, the Farm was taken over by a crowd of mostly women.  It hosted an event called Cherry Pie.   The focus was on farming, food and fabulous local women entrepreneurs producing everything from tea to homemade ice cream. Playing up the theme, Ottawa's own Gay Cook, put on a demonstration on how to bake the perfect cherry pie.

I took my camera to check out the event.  I ran into old friends, made some new ones and left with a new appreciation for the array of products being produced locally.  Support Local!
