More than 33 thousand Canadians have signed a petition asking the federal government to draft a new framework on Lyme Disease. The current one, released Feb. 7th falls far short, they say, of what needs to be done to seriously address the fastest growing infectious disease in the world.
Lyme disease is contracted through a tick bite. It is hard to diagnose and treat, often leaving those afflicted with an array of symptoms that can be life altering.
The Federal Government is being asked to lead the charge on Lyme Disease, before more Canadians find themselves struggling to to find a doctor who can diagnose their symptoms or have to leave Canada for treatment. The petition, which can be found at www.LymeHope.ca will be presented to the Federal Health Minister in the coming month.
